How to Stop Sugar Addiction and Quit Sugar with a Low Sugar Diet

I am a registered dietitian nutritionist (RDN) with over 10 years in practice.

I have feverishly combed the literature seeking the key to sustainable weight loss and enthusiastically taught what I learned - low carb, low sugar, intermittent fasting diet dogma. Each modality came back to bite in the form of complicated relationships with food and unsustainable results.

My heart broke as I counseled young men and women with eating disorders who were afraid of sugar, carbs, and food. I was a part of the problem.

Slowly and humbly I learned the key is to declutter the mind from external diet rules and to be attuned to the body’s internal feedback about food. Listening leads to a flexible, genetically individualized, sustainable eating path. And it’s a helluva lot more fun than keto!

I am an instructional designer with a BS in business administration and marketing with more than 11 years experience developing curriculum in both corporate and higher education realms. Simply stated, I am an avid learner and trainer.  

Like Esther, I was personally on the rollercoaster of dieting. Off sugar/on sugar with the residual guilt hangover. Professionally, I created online courses that fed into the madness.

Every day I am learning to replaced feelings of food guilt and failure with mindfulness - awareness of why I eat what I eat and awareness of how it makes me feel. By simply paying attention I effortlessly eat better and have extra headspace to create and live.

My biggest wish for our readers is freedom from the physical and emotional burden of dieting (guilt and failure).
